From The Mouths Of Muppets

"Oh, I'm so glad he got in! , he really deserves it..." "Did you know the White House was built by black slaves?" "Was it? That's terrible! They should tear it down and build it again!" I kid ye not, that was part of an actual conversation overheard in the dining area at work. Well meaning and kind hearted gibberish, of course, but I wasn't about to get involved in the conversation, so I quickly left the room before I burst into a fit of giggles. It's that whole "Aw, isn't it great?, he's so brave!" bullshit. People acting like the guy's a nine year old paraplegic who's just won his first swimming badge. Wonder what the reaction will be when he gets down to business and displays more of the 'tough bastard' side needed to govern any sizeable country. Maybe I'm not entirely comfortable with politicians unless they register somewhere on the Cunt-O-Meter. ** It'll come..... In other news, I think I may be a tad lovesick. Or something like that. Not for anyone in particular, you understand, but the symptoms have been manifesting themselves ever more clearly for the past month or two. That inescapable feeling that you're spending too much time on your own and that something vast and important is missing from your existence. Or maybe I just need to buy more porn............. ("~) I believe it's what Kinky Friedman describes as 'Spiritual Horniness'. Winter Warmer No4

I think you've been watching to much "Heroes on BBC2"

Fair enough, "Nine year old paraplegic" is a bit much. You know what I'm driving at though.....

That said, I've never seen Heroes before. Some sort of thing about folk with superpowers, isn't it?

This sort of 'cult of the personality' rather unnerves me.

Keep thinking of JFK. I hope history does not repeat itself.

Cynical me: Republicans knew what was ahead, financially speaking, so they decided to unload the metaphorical gun into the metaphorical foot and put forward candidates that were like oil and water together. Also consider that McCain didn't even have a quarter of Obama's funding, so it was always going to be down to smearing and dirty tricks to bring about a McCain/Palin victory. This failed, much as GOP HQ had expected, but hey!, we're in a recession and by the looks of things, it's a win/win situation.

Even if Obama makes a decent fist of the economy, the Republicans will be on hand to piss it all up against a wall in four or eight years time, with a new generation of unctious advocates of the unfettered free market just itching to herald a new dawn of growth and prosperity by de-regulating the newly regulated market.

Boombustboombustboombustboombustboombust..........

And then someone nukes the planet from space because it's all getting a little tedious and we never learn from our mistakes..........

Obama will do ok. I'll eat my hat if anything happens to him.

I think the Obama thing is just a symptom of the relief everyone feels that Bush is going and the Republicans didn't get in. He talks a good game, but then so did Tommy Docherty when he arrived at Wolves.

Didn't TD talk a good game everywhere he went?
